Environmental Executive Orders

Leading by example, the President's executive orders use the federal government's purchasing power to drive markets for more environmentally preferable products, while providing opportunities to save taxpayers money. These executive orders mandate the following actions:

The federal government must purchase recycled paper and other environmentally preferable products.
Alternative fuel vehicles will be phased into federal fleets.
Energy-efficient computers will be phased into federal purchasing schedules.
The federal phase-out of ozone depleting chemicals will be accelerated.
Federal facilities will cut toxic emissions by 50% and report those remaining emissions under community Right-to-Know laws.
Federal buildings will install new technology that saves water and is energy-efficient. This will cut utility bills and save taxpayers a billion dollars a year.
