Improved Environment for Private-Sector Innovation and Investment
In developing technology focus areas for cooperative research and
development projects in the federal government's Advanced
Technology Program, President Clinton and Vice President Gore
have consulted with industry and solicited input from a variety
of forums, including the "Technology Summit" in November 1993,
the joint industry-government announcement of new partnerships in
microelectronics in March 1994, and the National Institute for
Science and Technology's (NIST) continuous consultation with
thousands of industry officials.
