Science in the National Interest
The Vice President reaffirmed the Administration's commitment to
science, as well as technology, at a forum on "Science in the
National Interest" at the National Academy of Sciences. His
remarks challenged the research community to work with government
to ensure that federal dollars fund the best research and that
results of that research are used to meet national needs. The
forum was organized by the Office of Science and Technology
Policy to lay the groundwork for an Administration science policy
that will serve much the same purpose as the technology policy
released in February 1993 by the White House.
