CTAC is the central counter-drug enforcement research and development organization of the U.S. Government. It develops and implements the National Counter-Drug Enforcement Research and Development Strategy which identifies the scientific and technological needs of Federal, State, and local drug enforcement agencies. CTAC also is responsible for conducting research and development activities related to drug abuse and rehabilitation. CTAC oversees and coordinates counterdrug technology initiatives with related Federal civilian and military departments and conducts research and development activities for drug abuse addiction and rehabilitation research. The Chief Scientist of CTAC serves as chair of the Science and Technology Subcommittee of ONDCP's Research, Data, and Evaluation Advisory Committee.
