How do I put a picture such as Socks on my desktop or wallpaper?
Select Load to Local Disk in the Mosaic application.
Click on the picture you wish to use.
Save the picture on you hard drive.
For Macintosh:
Obtain a program such as Decor from sumex-aim.stanform.edu or a similiar archive. Unstuff the file and read the accompanying documentation. Place the Decor Extension in you Extension folder in you System Folder and restart. Launch the Decor application and select your picture.
For Windows PC:
Save the picture as a .bmp file with LView or a similiar program in the c:\windows\ directory. Load the Desktop Control panel item. Select your picture under the Wallpaper item. Click OK.
Make sure to deselect Load to Local Disk in Mosaic.
How can I access the White House Web from a computer that can't run Mosaic or doesn't have a good internet connection?
Lynx is a text only interface to the web. It is good for computers not capable of retrieving graphics from the internet. It is available by ftp from ftp2.cc.ukans.edu.
