Indian Treaty Room

The former Navy department Library and Reception Room, known as the Indian Treaty Room, is now used for meetings and receptions by the EOP agencies.

The Indian Treaty Room was completed in 1879 for use as the Navy Department Library and Reception Room, and has changed little over the years.

President Eisenhower was the first President to have his press conferences televised. This historic event took place in the Indian Treaty Room in 1955.
